The product development department consists of six employees which are working each day on flavor solutions.
The backgrounds of our employees are very different. Not only in terms of education (butcher, cook, technologists), but also in work experience: restaurant / catering, snack industry, fruit and vegetable processing, dairy, confectionery and meat processing sector. Because of this diversity every department can benifit of each other and we have the right person for each issue.
A large part of the work in the product development department consists of matching the products. By means of a reference projects specification or ingredient declaration we duplicate the product. It also happens that we only get a picture of ingredients or a reference product. Then it becomes quite a challenge. Much more difficult, but if it succeeds, the satisfaction even greater.
Together with our client, we get a product from the supermarket and look what ingredients it has in-house. At our department in Nijkerk we then analyze what ingredients and additives are still needed to duplicate this product on lab-scale. Then we discuss this with our client and we propose how to produce this product in its factory. If you later hear that he received an order with the product in question, it makes our day.
Another part of the work is to develop concepts for Easter or Christmas BBQ. Using the trends and developments in the market, we then develop new products for different sectors in which we operate: retail, industrial and craft production.
Knowing the developments in the market is also important in our line of work. Currently we respond to questions in the areas of health, allergens, E-numbers and salt reduction.
The product development department also focuses on solving customer issues. One of our account managers can for example have a question about a specific problem in the workplace of the client, such as return loss or moisture withdrawal. After consultation with the client about production conditions and the like, we get come to a sollution. Sometimes it is necessary to check the situation on the spot, we visit the production facility and we take a number of potential ingredients that can be used with us.
By working together to tackle the problem, we come to solutions and we gain better insight into productions. This allows you to make better proposals in the future. This does not even mean that new products need to be purchased. By changing, for example, sequence of mixing or temperature an improvement can often be achieved. The important thing is that we solve the problem together and thus relieve our clients.
